Tropical Pineapple Smoothie With Flax Seeds

Tropical Pineapple Smoothie

Who else is eager for spring summer? Yes, I skipped over spring because I am not a fan of the bugs and pollen it brings. The pollen in Georgia is awful. The whole city of Atlanta is blanketed in pollen during the spring time. Like dude, my car is orange…and it’s supposed to be blue.

I’m sure you can tell that I am overly excited for summer by my tropical drink. Excuse me while I pretend that I am relaxing on an island, drinking a tropical pineapple smoothie. A girl can dream can’t she? I was in Caribbean heaven while drinking this.

I was feeling a little bold, so I went out and bought real coconuts to try and blend into my smoothie. Well, I couldn’t get the coconuts to open. So I started searching online for videos on “how to open a coconut”. I have seen some people saying to:

  • bang it with a hammer
  • run into the wall with it
  • or smash it onto the floor

They say not to believe everything you read on the internet, but I was frustrated and running out of hope. This coconut needed to be open. So I took one of the coconuts, and ran straight into the wall with it. Of course this didn’t work. I probably didn’t do it hard enough, I mean, I didn’t want to ruin my wall.

In case you are wondering, the other two options didn’t work either. Yes, these two coconuts are still sitting pretty on my kitchen counter. Like, I just want a drink of fresh coconut water *crying face*. I can’t complain though, they did make a lovely decoration to my photography. Who wants to spend time opening a coconut for an easy smoothie recipe anyway? Not me. I like my smoothies quick, and tasty!

I have a determined and tenacious personality though, so these coconuts will open! To be continued….

  1. Oh my goodness! I can just picture you running into the wall with the coconut, like something from a cartoon or something. I would be afraid I’d dent the walls too! You guys are covered in pollen and we’re covered in snow 🙁 Oh well!! Regardless of the fresh coconut or not, these smoothies looks totally delicious! I loves me a good smoothie and this one is right up my alley!

Lol! I had to try every method before I gave up. My walls are far more important than opening the coconuts, haha. Right now I actually would rather be covered in snow! The pollen is seriously that bad. Fresh coconuts would have been awesome, but the store bought coconut milk ended up working perfectly. This smoothie is delicious!

  2. I definitely can’t wait for spring because it’s still winter where I live 😛 We had a pretty nasty spring blizzard the other day so this bright summery smoothie is totally calling my name!

    • yuminyourtum

Yes, I keep hearing about that nasty winter storm my northern family and friends keep talking about. I am in Georgia, so we don’t get much of a winter. Thank god. lol! Hopefully this tropical smoothie can bring some sunshine your way. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I am dying to know the end of the coconut story!! And personally with snow forecast for this weekend, I would settle for spring around here…

    • yuminyourtum

Lol! Well the coconuts have yet to open, but I have a plan, so I hopefully it works. I would settle for spring over snow any day as well! 🙂

  5. Amanda: yes, yes, yes! Yes to this sunny tropical smoothie. Yes to being ready for summer. And finally, yes to the amazing ingredients list in this recipe. 🙂 Is it weird that just looking at your photos makes me feel warmer? It’s currently raining like there’s no end in sight here in Maine, but looking at this smoothie is making me feel so much better. Thanks for sharing such an awesome recipe. Have a great weekend! 🙂 Pinning!

  6. I’ve never even attempted to buy a real coconut for that exact reason. I can’t wait to hear if you figure out how to get them open. 🙂 I LOVE anything tropical and this smoothie sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and refreshing. It’ll be 85 in Austin today so I can pretend it’s summer today.

    • yuminyourtum

Lol! Buying boxed coconut water or coconut milk is MUCH easier than trying to open a coconut. I have learned the hard way! I do have a plan to get this coconut open, so I am hoping this will work. Thank you Tanya! and that sounds like lovely weather. 🙂
